I like how Juyeon literally judging not only other performance but also Mnet |
Mnet has a huge chance to use Kingdom: Legendary War to
recover its bad reputation for these past years. But instead of making a fair fun
survival show, Mnet keeps making a wrong choice that angers the viewers. As the
result, Mnet continues to get backlash from the fans of the show’s attendees.
Mnet got its bad name as the sly snake TV channel after Produce
101 series, one of its past survival show to create a new Kpop group, ruined. It
all started from the fraud that the creator of Produce 101 has done. Basically,
the producer and several agencies of Produce 101 trainees deceived the public
by already picking the winner of the show before it has done. People then called
Mnet as Msnake and start to not believe the fairness of every Mnet survival
show including Kingdom: Legendary War.
Looking at the damage to its reputation, Mnet actually has
an opportunity to redeem it by creating a fair survival show using the recent
show, Kingdom: Legendary War. The show is a big deal to the Kpop community due
to the several Kpop groups as the contestants. Every group has its big
fandoms around the world. It means a bigger target for Mnet’s market and also
to prove people accusation is wrong. If Mnet makes a fair transparent uncontroversial
show, the fans will accept it nicely. Thus, Mnet’s name will be better. Unfortunately,
Mnet is not a smart company.
Rather than an unproblematic show, Mnet keeps doing bad thing when
Kingdom: Legendary War still airing. From the misinformation budget of the
stage for half of the contestants which makes the big quality contrast of the few
stages, air time differences between groups, the unknown experts as the juries, the
weird criteria and reason behind the winner of each round, until the newer or
rookies groups with fewer experiences than the contestants as the jury who
decide the winner of some round. While there’s no good reason behind this bad
plan, Mnet keeps turn off the viewers and anger the fans. It all seems like
Mnet really is a fraudulent TV channel and deserves the hate they’ve got.
Imagine Mnet ables to make a fair untroubled Kingdom:
Legendary War show. Every attendee gets fair treatment. All juries of the show
are legit people who are experienced in the Kpop industry, like music producers,
dancers, rappers, or maybe some senior Kpop idols. Mnet really gives strict criteria for
the juries to evaluate the contestants and pick the winner. Then, the fans won’t be bad-mouthing or be cursing Mnet.
For a big TV company that produces a lot of TV shows, it’s
impossible Mnet doesn’t have enough resources to design a fair survival show. For
example, Mnet can avoid the misinformation of the stage budget using a legal regulation
paper and gives each participant a supervisor whose job is to maintain they
follow the rule. There’s also no way Mnet can’t search for the experienced Kpop
industry experts despite its regular weekly music show, music award, and the
past show is created. If looking for a dancer expert, it may contact Hit The
Stage’s participants, Mnet another survival show with a bunch of professional
dancers. If Mnet needs some music producer or vocal judge, it better calls the Produce
101 vocal coach.
The bigger backlash actually comes from the lack of a real
judge, especially the jury of the rap round competition. There’s no real rapper
during the live evaluation between the 33 judges, maybe some juniors but not a
real rapper. The stupid thing is Mnet has tons of rap competition, like Show Me
The Money has both rap mentors and winners. It’s not very hard to ask them to join Kingdom: Legendary War as the judges.
Even if Mnet really desperate and unable to get decent experts,
it can bring back the Queendom or Road To Kingdom’s contestants. Both are Mnet's
previous survival show with a similar concept as Kingdom: Legendary War. The Queendom
and Road To Kingdom contestants are experienced enough of the same show so they are able to evaluate Kingdom: Legendary War participants wisely. Inviting Mnet past TV show participants is also a way to repromote the ended TV show so people will
watch it again. But no, Mnet chooses the harder way and tests its endurance from
the fans’ backlash. Well done.
Mnet fail to redeem its bad reputation as a cunning snake using
Kingdom: Legendary War. The backlash still continues until now or maybe getting
bigger. The rating isn’t doing well either. Although it used to have a big
chance, Mnet successfully misses the opportunity and keeps the bad publicity of
its own name.
After all, for Mnet, it seems that bad publicity is publicity too for its company.
